Diversity and Inclusion in Art
Art Exhibit at CPC
January 12 - February 2
Embracing Our Differences is a nonprofit organization, based in Southwest Florida along Florida's Cultural Coast, that uses the power of art and education to celebrate and promote our individuality and common humanity. They accomplish this through an annual, large-scale, juried exhibition and a comprehensive series of educational initiatives, programs, and resources designed for educators and students. Smaller canvas-sized art pieces are coming to CPC!
Join us to expand our horizons of what makes us human and what brings us together through 25 pieces of art created by children from around the world. Click here to learn about Diversity and Inclusion in Art and preview the exhibit.

“My goal is not only copying the visible world, but transmitting feelings and thoughts, capturing the intangible world, like affection, child-like faith, human cooperation, the God-to-human relationship, grief, hope, love, loss, pain, and humor.” – Artist Ruth Schmidt, Budapest, Hungary
Children Raised by the Same Earth
“There is an old saying in China called 56 nationalities, 56 flowers, 56 brothers and sisters are one family. ... I used flowers as the elements of my creation. I made these flowers grow from one root, and I added several representative races with their national flowers. I also wanted to include people with disabilities, so I drew a beautiful girl with a prosthetic leg in the bottom right corner.” – 9th-grade artist Sofia Huang, Beijing, China
Friends Untangle Life’s Knots“We wanted to show how important it is to reach out to others, especially when they are struggling.” – Mrs. Rodriguez’s 5th-grade class in Sarasota, Florida
"My painting Colorful Conversation portrays two individuals deeply engrossed in an exchange. Although we can’t hear their conversation, it is represented by the colors that surround them. Each color and shape represents an idea, a story, a piece of history, and a unique perspective." - Colorful Conversation by Eric Appelquist, Moline, IL
