Sunday Morning Advent Adult Education
begins November 24 10:45am
"On the Way to Bethlehem"
Chapel/Zoom
Sunday November 24, Adult Education begins looking at Advent -- a little early, but this allows us to get in the full study before Christmas. For our Advent study this year, we will read and discuss On the Way to Bethlehem, by Rob Fuquay.
The book helps us look at towns and cities that were key to the story of the birth of Jesus. We start in Rome, where “a decree went out from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be enrolled.” That decree, according to the Gospel of Luke, resulted in the journey of Joseph and a very-pregnant Mary to Bethlehem. The author prompts us to consider how a decision by a powerful leader in a distant place can impact the lives of people at a distance. Think about Moscow’s decision to attack Ukraine; or the impact of decisions in Washington on our lives.
Please join us this Sunday to begin the journey to Bethlehem. We are pleased this week to welcome Tracy Sims as our leader. We will begin the class with a brief video by the author.
We encourage you to read the first chapter of the book, to enhance your understanding and the application of this study to your own journey. Books are available in the church office.
Read * Pray * Share
Begins September 19
Thursdays, 9:00 - 10:30 am
Currently Reading: Words for the Beginning: Art, Poetry & Reflections for Advent. For three Thursdays in December we will be reading the Words for the Beginning. There will be many copies available in the church office. Please consider joining our lively group on Thursday mornings for these 3 weeks to lead you into this joyous season.

Are you looking for a group where literature and Biblical discussion come together? This curious and insightful group meets at CPC from 9:00 - 10:30 am on Thursdays from September to the end of May. They begin each meeting by sharing life updates, joys and concerns and then pray together (20 minutes) and then we discuss the reading for 70 minutes.
Books are available in the church office along with a reading schedule. If you wish, you may make a donation to cover the cost of the book.

We welcome all to join the group. No one can make it every week, so come when you can! Contact Pastor Beth for more information
